You Must Lose Yourself by Narah Valenska Smith

Don’t lose yourself in what happens on a daily basis. Lose yourself instead in what’s essential and truly matters. In this busy world we live in, it can be hard to see and understand this, much less do. But see, understand and do you must. Allow me to explain.

Why You Must Lose Yourself

When I was driving home from the hospital the day Steven (former fiancé) passed away, I couldn’t help but notice the busyness on the street. I had just left a very quiet, somber, subdued room and all this activity was in direct contrast to the space I had been in all day. In an instant, it all occurred to me as absolute mayhem… madness, even.

Where do they think they are going with all that speed and stress written all over their faces? What is their hurry and where is their joy? I asked myself.

It was nowhere to be found.

They were nowhere to be found.

I had always felt that most people are lost in the insanity of the world and that this disconnect from what matters and what’s real is why the world is what it is. This time, however, during this particular drive, I saw it as plain and clear as night and day.

People are gone from their indispensable essence. They are absent and away from their rhythmic hearts.

Connected, sure, 24/7, yet, almost unequivocally, to all the wrong and inapt things in life.

People are lost in what happens from moment-to-moment, in the nonsense of life, in folly, in the opinions of the “news” they are glued to, in the dark thoughts of their minds.

The reason? People have long forgotten who and what they truly are.

This is precisely why we must make sure we lose ourselves – our disconnected, untrue selves – so that we may reclaim our authentic souls and come from that genuine being based in love and not the fear that engulfs us and creates this mad life and world.

Where To Start

This is a very simple yet just as profound truth and concept… like life itself.

Who we truly are is what’s real in life. That is real life. All else is an illusion, lunacy, foolishness. Yet, in the moment, we get so easily confused and don’t even know where to start to get to our true selves. We don’t know how to awaken and become aware.

Here’s where to start: connect to your heart.

This is where the realignment and restoration begins. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and remember you are not what’s happening or even what you think. You are everything that observes all of that, the spirit that watches the physical, human body and mind you are on this planet as.

Be the consciousness and being that you are. Be light as a feather, easy breezy as the wind. Flow effortlessly through today and through life.
